The workshop's setting is in one of the most romantic and historically creative locations on the Mediterranean - Cadaques, Spain, home of Salvador Dali, and playground to many of the artistic luminaries of the past century.

One is absolutely captivated the moment one enters Cadaques, a small fishing village surrounded by the Mediterranean's most romantic bay, just 40 miles from the French border. Besides Dali, practically every artist of note in the 20th century has been lured by the pueblošs siren song of inspiring vistas, as well as its deep-blue waters and hard-core hedonism into which one lustily dives. Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Garcia Lorca, Rene Magritte, Joan Miro, David Hockney, Walt Disney - even Albert Einstein - have all sipped a little absinth, skinny-dipped, and most assuredly sensed a different flow of joy there where the Pyrenees slide into the Sea. Exceptional restaurants, hyperactive coffee houses and bars, private bays and coves, all illuminated by the magical light that surrounds Cadaqu?s, day and night. Every one, sooner or later, returns to Cadaqu?s. The allure is irresistible.

Set on a charmed island, a stone's throw away from the shore, the beautiful Villa Arenella becomes home and studio to the participants who will learn a painting technique that has been handed down from master to master from the 15th century to the present.
